Digital Support Technician Apprentice Role

 

Technical Training are recruiting for a Level 3 Digital Support Technician (ST0120) Apprentice. Technical Training are a vital business area in UK Power Networks, keeping the business moving by ensuring that staff are equipped with the right skills, competencies and training to safely work on the electricity network.

 

Technology is changing the way we work and there is a digital skills gap. New skills are required to help us optimise the way we operate as a business. This apprenticeship will equip learners with the tools to support the business in many areas including developing digital learning content, digitalising processes and systems to modernise training delivery.

 

Following our first full Ofsted inspection UK Power Networks gained an outcome of ‘Good’ with two areas of ‘Outstanding’. This apprenticeship will support UK Power Networks towards gaining an overall grade of ‘Outstanding’.

 Job Purpose:

This role will be specifically providing digital support to the Digital Learning Team who develop the digital content and support digital training solutions within the organisation. This will include designing and developing e-Learning content for training courses, producing short videos and media content to bring training to life, and creating virtual reality training material.

Dimensions:

  • No direct reports
  • No budget responsibility
  • Digital Learning Team currently consists of 2 employees

 Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maximise the effective use of digital office technologies, productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies and digital information systems to achieve objectives.
  • Develop and apply digital technologies across the business functions to maximise productivity.
  • Support and implement these digital operations and digital transformation.
  • Support service users through online and digital channels, developing approaches to meet customer needs, deflect traditional face to face learning and to reduce costs.
  • Production of reports and data analysis
  • Handling of confidential learner information
  • Accurate data entry into databases in line with Data Protection rules.
  • Handling of confidential learner information
  • Operate internal Learning Management system (LMS) to manage learner training plans. (Full training will be provided).
  • Proactively support team.
  • Monitoring completion of e-learning modules and resolve queries and exemptions.
  • Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

 Process:

This role sits within the Technical Training and Assurance Team of UK Power Networks which is part of the wider Human Resources Directorate.

The Digital Support Technician will report to the Digital Learning Specialist and will be responsible for supporting the Digital Learning Team with a broad range of digital support.

The successful applicant for this role will complete a Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship qualification during this employment contract.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
