This Regional Manager will report to the Head of Client Delivery and will work within UK Power Networks Services based in our Manchester office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary Depending on Experience plus car allowance and a bonus of 10%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

JOB PURPOSE:
The Manchester regional team has a varied portfolio of existing electrical and construction projects with clients across the north of England. With an encouraging customer pipeline a principle driver, you will continue to win new project work with all clients across the northern region of the UK.
Excellence in delivery is an essential part of our existing works and in building our brand and reputation with new clients. Achieving this by mobilising and executing a portfolio of projects and maintenance contracts is important to the growth of the business.
You will drive the region forward beyond the daily running of the business. We ask that you communicate a clear vision and goals along with the enthusiasm and integrity to lead the team.
This is a client-facing role and you will need to provide exceptional levels of service to clients, ensuring that all contracts are delivered to time, cost, quality, with the highest safety standards. You will have bidding and tendering skills and have experience delivering construction projects. You will deliver value to the business by ensuring the financial performance of all contracts, and also developing further opportunities.
Appropriate additional resources will need to be put in place, using a combination of directly employed staff and contract arrangements to meet the requirements of a growing business. It must be ensured that all people employed in the delivery of our work act in a safe manner, follow the required safe working practices and uphold the principles of the company philosophy on safety, compliance and customer service.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Deliver a safe working environment by ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with UKPN Services policies, procedures, current legislation and any specific client requirements. This will involve but not be limited to ensuring the implementation of safe systems of work, project safety plans, work package plans, safety briefings and other associated documentation. It will also be expected that regular planned and unplanned safety inspections are undertaken.
- Establish good collaborative working relationships with Clients and partners. Demonstrating value for money and a professional approach in all dealings.
- Financial performance of contracts, ensuring rigorous cost control and that change, and risk management procedures are followed.
- Increase our client base through customer identification and selling solutions to solve the customers needs.
- Plan, acquire and deploy resources to ensure delivery of contracts.
- Work with procurement and commercial colleagues to ensure future contract requirements are available in a cost-effective manner and that the supply chain is managed.
- Manage a team of people through the life-cycle of a portfolio of projects including bidding, design, mobilisation, construction, monitoring, data analysis, budget control, change control and progress reporting, to a successful conclusion.
- Monthly reporting of the portfolio of works. Ensure monthly project reviews are held and documented. Track and hold PMs accountable for project performance across safety, programme, commerciality, quality and customer service.
- Ensure effective communication of information and important issues to all within the project team and to the client.
- Identify, mitigate and manage all types of projects and contract risk.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
We ask that you have experience leading a diverse team within a project and maintenance environment. Power system distribution experience of 400v to 33kV is required. Up to and including 132kV would be beneficial. A high level of commercial experience along with experience in use of NEC and framework forms of contracts is necessary .
You will work in the regional office in Manchester. However, there will be a requirement to work across the north of England and surrounding areas with the occasional visit to London for wider team engagements.
You will develop the outputs of delivery teams to meet clients' expectations, ensuring that all work is completed safely, to budget, on time and following all legislative requirements.
Skills
- Experience managing large complex projects under CDM 2015
- Experience managing programmes of smaller projects
- Experience of Project delivery. This could be across any sector such as Aviation, Rail, Power and construction.
- Experience bidding and writing / reviewing tender documents.
- Communicate at director level with clients, partners, project teams and sub-contractors.
- Experienced commercial and financial understanding and the forms of project control and contract conditions
- Programme management
- Stakeholder engagement
- A people's person, able to set targets and manage performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Minimum of degree or equivalent in Engineering or Project Management
- Chartered Engineer / Project Manager or working towards it
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- APM or Prince2 or equivalent
- IOSH Managing environmental responsibilities.
- SMSTS
- Membership of the Chartered Management Institute, IEE or ICE
Experience
- Experience in the Project construction environment
- Experience in and detailed understanding of design and build contracts including handover and project close out
- Manage complex projects in Rail, Power, Aviation or construction
- Electrical infrastructure experience up to and including 132KV networks
- EV, Solar, Wind, Storage renewable technology experience will be beneficial
