This Graduate Field Engineer position will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within the Network Operations directorate based in our London Bidder Street office. You will be a 24 month Fixed Term employee.

You will attract a salary of £39,732.00 and a bonus of 3%.

The Programme

 

The 2-year structured graduate programme will offer you the opportunity of 9 months rotational placements, relevant to your role, helping you better understand the role of UK Power Networks and its directorates. The second year will see you placed in your first supported role. Working towards the roles and responsibilities outline below, you will start contributing to your team's success and achieving objectives. Throughout the programme you will develop the knowledge, competencies and leadership skills through embedded training sessions to help you succeed at UK Power Networks, along with mentorship from a senior leader.

 

The Job

 

Network Operations is the beating heart of UK Power Networks. The largest directorate in the business works directly on the electricity network. Keeping the lights on for over 19 million people.

 

You will be an important contributor to the team who manage the delivery of all Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections and Faults work within the London electricity network. Together with the scheduling team, Work Planner, Field Staff Supervisor and Field Staff you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.

 

Safety is the number one priority a UK Power Networks and as a field engineer you must ensure that a high standard of safety management prevails on all jobs and field staff get the support they require.

 

As a Field Engineer you will be the face of the company to customers, this means working with integrity and delivering great customer service to meet their expectations wherever possible.

 

The Team and Role

 

You will support the London Extra High Voltage (EHV) team to ensure all planned and fault related works are managed to the highest standard while ensuring all relevant health and safety policies are followed. You will be placed around putting people to work and ensuring all works are completed as safely and efficiently as possible. The role includes liaison with Asset Management, Capital Programme, Major Projects, and local Areas, which is a great opportunity to develop your internal network and understanding of the wider business.

 

You will work towards their 132kV Senior Authorised Person authorisation in Protection/Maintenance.

 

 

What you'll need:

 

  • You will have achieved or be on target to achieve a minimum of an Honours bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Full driving licence – this role will require you to drive to sites across the London area

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Managers and supervisors carry both legal and company responsibilities for ensuring the health and safety of their employees, those under their control and those who might be affected by the work undertaken, i.e. public, visitors and employees of other organisations. This includes briefing individuals working for them and ensuring there is the necessary understanding, competence and application of requirements to work safely and without harming the environment.

Employees will ensure they understand the health and safety risks involved in their work activities and their responsibility to apply the controls needed to manage those risks to acceptable levels. Similarly where work activities can have an adverse impact upon the environment, and where there are legal requirements, employees will understand those impacts and the controls they must ensure are applied.

Employees need to be aware that for some craft and operational roles that work at height, or use fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 116Kg due to maximum safe working load of the safety equipment that is used.
