This HR Operations Manager will report to the Head of HR Operations will work within Human Resources being based in either our London, Crawley or Bury St Edmunds offices. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of depending on your experience, car allowance, flexible benefit fund and a bonus of 10%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose

As the the HR Operations Manager you will oversee and continuously improve the delivery of the HR Advisory service to the Business.

You will manage a team of HR Advisors, who are based across UKPN's footprint, ensuring an resolution of employment cases is conducted, following our policies and procedures and employment law.

The HR Operations Manager will develop, implement, and maintain legally compliant HR policies and procedures, ensuring they align with the UK Power Networks Vision and Values.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Resolve employment cases within established timescales and following Company policies and procedures and avoiding adverse outcomes.
  • Conduct delivering employee administration processes within established standards of accuracy, established timescales and observing Company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the activity and performance of the Case Management of the HR Advisory Team
  • Analyse the nature and frequency of employment cases providing advice to line managers on how they might be avoided
  • Oversee the delivery by HR Advisors of training and coaching for line managers in the management of employee issues to reduce the occurrence of formal employment cases
  • Analyse the accuracy and timeliness of HR Operations delivery to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing them.
  • Technical lead for new employment legislation provisions, implementing necessary policy/procedural changes. Additionally, ensuring that necessary training and communication of changes is successful delivered.

Nature and Scope

As the HR Operations Manager you will manage the activity of the HR Advisory Team, supporting and advising the business on how best people related matter can be resolved. In doing, so the post holder must have technical expertise of case management, a knowledge of employment law and comply with our policies and procedures related to Discipline, Performance Management, Absence Management and Grievance.

In the role you will communicate with employees at all levels building relationships with stakeholders in the organisation which include HR Senior Management Team, business leader, colleagues within the wider HR team, trade union representatives and the Legal team.

Also, your will also support the Health and Wellbeing Manager in the delivery of the Occupational Health and EAP provision to ensure that our organization are receiving timely and quality advice on how to support a resolution to case management. This will require Account Management of specific elements of the Occupational Health contract and work with the Occupational Lead Clinician on complex cases.

Skills Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • CIPD qualified and/or employment law qualification
  • An excellent knowledge of employment law and best practice on case management. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to Discipline, Performance Management, Absence Management and Grievance would be advantageous.
  • The ability & experience to analyse individual cases, assess risk and advise HR Advisors on how best to proceed.
  • Experience producing service metrics and the ability to understand and analyse these metrics to influence the decisions of senior business professionals in respect of employment matters
  • Experience to conduct detailed analysis of the accuracy and timeliness of HR advisory service delivery to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Ability to travel across our regional patch

Desirable

  • Degree qualified
  • Experience in HR Systems i.e. SAP
  • Experience leading a team of HR Advisors would be advantageous
  • Experience working in a similar industry
