This Rapid Response Technician will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within Network Operations based in our Croydon office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.
You will attract a salary of £39,615 dependant on experience and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose
The position, working as part of the Croydon & Kingston Area team will be responsible for the restoration of LV & HV supplies on the UK Power Networks distribution systems. After a period of appropriate training, you will be required to carry out the full range of activities including first line response work at voltages up to 33kV.
Duties
- Location of faults on the Distribution network
- The restoration of HV & LV supplies
- Testing and switching on the HV & LV network – and understanding the results of the tests and acting appropriately
- Any other relevant jointing duties
- Supervision of excavating teams
- Understanding operational and 1:500 diagrams
- LV and HV jointing
- Use of appropriate IT equipment including TDR, LV Faults sniffer and FFE equipment
- Immediate supervision of a working party
Nature and Scope
The person undertaking this role plays a vital role in the safe and timely restoration of LV & HV supplies. The Company is regulated by various guidelines, and this role is particularly important in ensuring successful compliance with Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruption targets. The job holder may be required to work at any location within the UK Power Networks area, initially within the South East Region.
Qualifications & Experience:
The following skills and attributes are important to this role
- HV Switching
- City and Guilds 2339, formally 232, or be willing to undertake a course of study to achieve this
- IOSH Managing Safety or be willing to undertake a course of study to achieve this
- Streetworks qualification Units 1, 2, 3 and supervisor
- Flexibility and able to work alone and in a team environment
- Ability to problem solve in a practical way
- Able to work under pressure
- Must have a clean driving licence
