This Reporting and Data Accountant will report to the Income Accounting Manager and will work within the Finance directorate based in our Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £58,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:

You will be an accountant with data analytics knowledge. You will undertake detailed financial and commercial analysis of business unit, partnering with the finance team and wider Income Management team, on all aspects of the income report and providing commentary/insight. You will also look to modernise processes through automation.

 

Dimensions:

The Income Accounting team consists of four people The team is responsible for forecasting, accounting for and analysing DUoS sales over £1,800m.

 

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Overall responsibility within the team for reporting revenue.
  • Analyse sales data to provide timely and concise reporting to management.
  • Oversee the month end process, working with the two analysts in preparing and analysing of variances to budgets and forecasts, highlighting and reporting anomalies and trends.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly Intercompany reconciliations, the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (Accrued Income, Unallocated Cash and provisions).
  • Prepare financial and regulatory information for internal and external audit purposes and partner with auditors.
  • Oversee the preparation and posting of journals to SAP and reconciliation of reporting models to SAP.
  • Facilitate automation of data flows for monthly reporting and other requirements
  • Ad-hoc projects to help improve business insight/automation
  • Provide commercial and analytical support to the Reporting team.
  • Prepare Annual forecasts.
  • Help with regulatory reporting of revenue

 

Nature and Scope:

  • You will be required to work with other team members on a range of different reporting activities running concurrently to ensure that the financial and management reporting plans for Income Management are achieved.
  • You will collaborate with Central Finance and Regulation & Strategy to ensure consistency of information across the business.

 

Qualifications:

The following are necessary for this role:

  • Educated to degree level (or similar) in a numerate discipline and qualified in a recognised professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA).
  • An understanding of and some experience in either the utilities finance or income management fields; experience of SAP would be an advantage.
  • Experience of Databricks, PowerBI, AI or other database tools and be able to extract large datasets
  • Numerate and IT literate with data interrogation and analysis skills, able to conduct to identify anomalies and take appropriate action to rectify.
  • Able to collaborate and influence in written and oral form, able to apply commercial knowledge to an evolving world.
  • Experience of leading in a team and workgroup environment.
  • IT skills, including SAP (or similar), Powerpoint, Excel skills, experience of Business Objects is an advantage.
