This Planning Analyst Finance Business Partnering will report to the Finance Manager and will work within the Finance directorate based in our Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £39,670.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:
The Finance Business Partnering (FBP) team ensures the business meets its financial targets by providing specialised support to each directorate within UK Power Networks. You will focus on consolidating the planning processes for FBP, using technology to refine budgeting, forecasting and submission to the Corporate FP&A team.
Dimensions:
The annual controllable cost budget for UKPN is c£1.3bn distributed across 10 directorates. The monthly rolling forecasting process is crucial for identifying budget variances and implementing early corrective actions to control overspends.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Utilise technology to automate and enhance the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes, delivering relevant insights
- You will collaborate with the wider FBP team to apply insights and implement actions to the relevant directorate
- Manage the monthly change control process for the Asset Management Portfolio Plan c£2.1bn over 3 years. Work with Asset Management and Net Ops to improve the communication around forecasting and budget changes
- Analyse variances to budget for both the APP and Non-APP workstreams. Give early insight as to causes and corrective actions and work with FBP to action
- You will provide clear, insightful, and accurate management information to improve operational performance, service quality and the financial performance.
- Support FBP colleagues, especially during important periods such as month-end
- Produce both daily and ad-hoc data to support decision making across UK Power Networks
- Drive continuous improvement across FBP to enhance timely financial decision making
Nature and Scope:
This professional role involves liaising throughout the business, with regular communication with central finance departments, senior management and non-finance managers.
You will demonstrate analytical skills and apply well-reasoned assumptions where required. This role provides a high degree of autonomy with guidance from line manager.
Whilst you will be based at Crawley / Bury, the role may require attendance at operational reviews and meetings at other UKPN locations.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
- Experienced analyst
- Experience communicating analytical findings for a range of different audiences complex financial information to non-finance professionals
- You will establish and maintain excellent relationships and credibility quickly
- Experience of using PBI / AI tools
- Advanced Excel skills
- Numerate with a strong commercial acumen
- A team player and someone who is willing to go the extra-mile to provide support to their colleagues
- Experience in process improvement
