This linesperson will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

You will attract a salary of £42,005 depending on experience and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose:

The position, working as part of the Crawley Area team, will manage the delivery of network enhancement projects and restoration of electrical supplies on the UK Power Networks distribution system, carrying out repairs on the overhead lines.

 

Duties

  • Carry out all work in connection with the construction, maintenance and report of a.Overhead lines and any associate plant and equipment, connections, and earthing, including cable laying and necessary excavation, backfill and reinstatement
  • Overhead line service lines, pilots and catenaries, service termination equipment and connections thereto
  • Patrol overhead lines and reports defects and any work being performed in the vicinity of the line route.
  • Perform work on live LV apparatus conductors or equipment, following the appropriate safety rules.
  • Manage live line work on overhead lines up to and including 33KV.
  • Install and connect, or disconnect and removes or re-site whole current metering.
  • Remove and replace links and fuses on the LV network.
  • Use meters and instruments and records readings.
  • Support resistance, thermal and height measurements on overhead lines.
  • Carry out rigging, erects and inspects pre-formed scaffolds and pole and clip scaffolds.
  • Carries out tree felling and tree trimming.
  • Drive vehicles, cleans them and carries out roadworthiness checks.
  • Operate communications/data transmission and display equipment.
  • Operate mechanical aids and use portable equipment.
  • Switche, isolate and earth when authorised to do so.
  • Undertake Standby Duties.

 

 

Nature and Scope:

You will work with the team to achieve the targets set out in the Performance Dashboard. You will work under their own initiative and demonstrate the ability to perform risk assessments to create a safe working environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • LV & HV Authorised
  • SPN / EPN network competency certificate
  • City & Guilds 2339 (formally 232) certificate
  • To be able to work on own initiative
  • Able to complete self risk assessments
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • To be prepared to train and learn new skills to manage the full range of tasks.
  • To have experience in the field of overhead line construction and maintenance.
