This Assistant Project Manager will report to the (insert reporting structure)) and will work within Programme Manager based in our Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £65,241 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:
As the Assistant Project Manager (APM) you will assist Project Managers (PM) and Programme Managers (PRGM) in the delivery of the Capital Investment Programme of Projects and Connections projects. The APM will deliver work packages within a single project, across several projects or deliver in totality smaller value projects.
Principal Accountabilities:
- To Support the Project Manager or Programme Manager in delivering large and high profile projects, managing several contracts and key stakeholders.
- Support in gaining project approvals and subsequently manage project expenditure within the sanctioned budgetary limits. Governance gates B, C and D.
- Organise mission-focused work team meetings including actions arising.
- Compile input to weekly safety reports.
- Help prepare reports for monthly client reviews.
- Become a Project Controls Systems "superuser".
- To support the PM or PRGM in the delivery of a portfolio of projects ensuring all safety, quality and environmental standards are observed.
- To support the PM or PRGM in delivering a portfolio of projects, to required Programme and Output Dates.
- To support the PM or PRGM in the monthly reporting of Projects.
- Where required compilation of Project Execution Plans (PEPs), Project Quality Plans (PQPs) and Contractual Documents.
- Where required produce Governance documentation.
- Support in identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
- Ensure that project lessons learnt are captured and implemented within the team.
- Mitigating scope change and risk across projects.
Stakeholder Management:
Internal
- Portfolio Manager – Will oversee the development of the Trainee and assign them to a Programme of works.
- Programme Manager - The Trainee will take daily direction and guidance from the while delivering the projects.
- Project Manager – the APM will take daily direction and guidance from while delivering the projects
- Quantity Surveyor – Liaison with the commercial team to ensure data is accurate for project forecasts and expenditure information for reporting.
- Project Planner - Liaison with the planning team to ensure information is communicated to facilitate reliable project forecasts and expenditure information for reporting
- Procurement - Liaison with our Supply Chain strategies and representatives for supply of contracts and materials.
- Design Team – Consultation with the Design engineers on the specification and design Progress for the delivery of the project to time cost and quality of the design deliverables
- HSEQ Team - for ensure safety is at the forefront of the project delivery
- Asset Management - Liaison throughout the project lifecycle to ensure scope and cost are managed and completed project meets project mandate.
- Connections Project Manager – Liaison with in the delivery of Customer funded projects
- Network operations - Liaison throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the network is not compromised and that the project is delivered following operational requirements for the end user.
- Programme Management Office (PMO) – Support in the reporting of All project reporting- Monthly and yearly expenditure, Risk, Rigs, Review and acceptance of gate papers to allow project progression within UK Power Networks budget, time and quality parameters

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Exposure/ practical experience of LV/HV or EHV electrical distribution network (Transmission/DNO/ Private Networks) is desirable
- An engineering discipline or project management qualification to HNC level preferred ONC or equivalent required.
- Membership of a professional institute IEE, ICE or APM or equivalent preferred but not essential
- Safety Management CSCS / IOSH preferred but not essential
- Training will be provided to the successful candidate
- Demonstrable work experience in a project delivery / construction environment.
