This Project Supervisor (Electrical) will report to the Operations Manager or Lead Engineer and will work within the Capital Programme directorate based in either our Bury St Edmunds, Colchester or Stevenage offices. You will be a permanent employee.

 

You will attract a salary of £68,144.00 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

Job Purpose:

 

The Project Supervisor in the Capital Programme Operations Team is to manage the Project team of operatives whether UKPN staff or Contractors. You will support all Project Engineers and Site Supervisors with all schemes from the APP and Major Connections portfolio.

 

You will coordinate and organise site operatives as to ensure that projects are delivered with full consideration to safety, and time scales set by the Project Engineer, and within UK Power Networks standards.

 

Dimensions:

 

  • Direct Line Management responsibility for circa 8 -10 SGNF FTE's and Agency staff.
  • Liaison/coordination/cooperating with Programme managers and Project Managers to help deliver the regional APP/Connections portfolio.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Help develop Multiple Projects from Gate A to close out Gate D
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple projects.
  • Attend required project specific meetings and project reviews
  • Oversee multiple aspects of a project, including input on budget, programme, quality, safety, Environmental, and compliance. Able to collaborate with different partners, such as Clients, Contractors, Engineers, and the workforce
  • Ensure construction assurance through audits on quality of work, technical competencies, adherence to specifications, and procedures.
  • You will ensure that the project completion data such as, as-builts and RIGs are submitted for processing.
  • Help with and act as the Site Supervisor with composition of CDM and Safety Documentation where required.
  • Line Management of UKPN Site Supervisor's / fitters.
  • Produce site delivery plans and ensure provision of direct and contract resources, materials and services to ensure that project programmes are maintained.
  • Provide monthly achievement reports & forecasts.
  • Contribute to the pre-construction phases of a project.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service e.g. minimise CIs & CMLs, network risk, and customer complaints.
  • Ensure that all workers engaged on the projects / portfolio of projects are aware of all safety and environmental requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Help with the design stage of the project by providing support to designers on buildability and is a member of the team that helps produce the Hazard Elimination and Management Checklist (HEML)
  • Attend meeting with partners under the direction of the Project Engineer.
  • Liaise and seek guidance from the nominated Project Engineer, AP or SAP.
  • Advise the Project Engineer, designers and surveyors on restrictions and site conditions that may affect designs, reports and ultimate delivery of the projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to design and or specification.
  • Understand activity methodology to a degree to ensure electrical precautions are appropriate to the proposed method of working.
  • Raise TQ's, CE, and EWN issues that may affect project delivery and submit via Unifier.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and Project Manager /Project Engineer to ensure stocked and non-stocked items are delivered promptly (Long lead items advised by Project Engineer).
  • Capture accurate As Built/Laid Information, relaying to Designers or For Networks Records
  • Monitor and act as site team spokesperson.
  • Co-ordinate the day to day construction activities with Client/ Contractor's ensuring programmes are met.
  • Issue Task instruction following the DSR's.
  • Issue LOA's for works on site following the DSR's.
  • Ensure suitable Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) are in place for all work.
  • Ensure the Putting People to Work (PPTW) Policy is followed.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and raise Purchase Order requests in coordination with Business Support team.
  • Seek personal continuous development and the development of others.
  • Manage Project Quality Management Plans and Project Quality Control Plan following CAP 05 001 and acts as the Client's Supervisor.
  • Perform Site and BE audits and records them on AIRLine.
  • Perform the Supervisor role under the New Engineering Contract 3 or QA for the UKPN quality plan.
  • Hold Risk Reduction Meetings as directed by the Project Engineer/ Project Manager.
  • Manage the resource profile for UKPN staff and Contractors to gain high levels of productivity.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • We ask that you have a Distribution Network awareness training and basic knowledge of the Network.
  • Hold NRSWA supervisor
  • Temporary Works – Temporary Work coordinator and/or Temporary works Supervisor
  • Skills to Manage Groundwork, Construction and Cable laying activities (Civil based PS background and work).
  • Authorised to Issue Limitation of Access.
  • Manage Long Objects in Open Bar Compounds up to 132KV.
  • Receive Permit to Work.
  • Hold full driving license.
  • You have an Electrical Engineering HNC/HND or in Construction or Civil Engineering.
  • A working knowledge of the safety & environmental regulations relating to construction work in the industry.
  • A safety qualification such as NEBOSH is preferred but must have IOSH & CITB SMSTS.
  • Must have experience of working with the CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes.
  • Understand and application of UK Power Networks policies and procedure.
  • Knowledge of P6 Primavera, the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and Project) are essential.
  • Project Management knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Flexible attitude to work and working hours.
  • An awareness of the sections business financial and regulatory obligations.
  • Ability to build working relationships with colleagues and other teams within UKPN and with external partners.
  • The ability to use own initiative to solve problems, self-motivated with an ambition to achieve.

 

Candidates that don't meet all the criteria may be considered subject to necessary training and formal qualifications. If the candidate does not hold the relevant competencies, they may be placed on a lower Band with a development plan.
