This Field Engineer will report to the Lead Field Engineer and will work within Network Operations based in our Crawley and Brighton region. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £54,166 and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose:
To work as part of the Supply Quality team within the South East Region geographical area. To investigate voltage complaints to establish if the supply voltage is within statutory limits and recommend appropriate action to rectify any identified issues. Undertake site surveys and work with Lead Field Engineers in organising and planning work for queries relating to general enquiries so the work can be completed and meet the customer's expectations, this may include installing voltage monitoring equipment and tapping transformers.
Also you will support Capital Programme, Connections, and Faults within the area. This includes liaison with customers, network operations and control, networks planning of field staff and management of contractors.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Organise appointments with customers following EGS 5 and EGS 8 of the Electricity Guaranteed Standards.
- Investigate voltage complaints to establish if the supply voltage is outside statutory limits. Investigate network running arrangements.
- Instal and download recording equipment.
- Interpret results from recording equipment and recommend action to rectify any issues identified.
- Work as part of team with Lead Field Engineers and Network Planners to ensure action is taken to rectify any issues identified so we are compliant with EIS 5 of the Electricity Internal Standards.
- Provide relevant information to nominated person for Electricity Guaranteed Standards and Electricity Internal Standards reporting.
- Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
- Responsibility for delivery of all supply quality, maintenance, construction and fault works to time, cost and quality.
- Ensure staff comply with all procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
- Daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources
- Communicate with HV/LV control – submission of HV/LV switching log, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and procedures
- Ensure that the Asset Database – SAP, is updated with completed work by the system.
- Support and provide technical support to field staff.
- Manage and resolve any contract actual issues, with the support of Contract Management.
- Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
- Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and to rectify any quality issues identified.
- Communicate with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
- To be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies as determined by your experience.
- Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).
Nature and Scope:
You will play an important role in the team managing the delivery of all Supply Quality, Maintenance, Capital Programme, Connections and Faults work within a geographical area. Together with the scheduling team, Work Planner, Field Staff Supervisor and Field Staff you will deliver an excellent service to the customer, ensuring we meet the requirements of our Guaranteed Service Standards.
From 1 October 2024 all new employees appointed to the Field Engineer or Lead Field Engineers roles within Network Operations will include a contractual requirement to undertake standby for a minimum period of 20 years, or up to the age of 55 whichever comes first.
Qualifications:
Essential
- LV Authorised Person
- 11kV Authorised Person
- IT literate including MRS, SAP, and Smart Enquiries
- Current valid driving licence
- City and Guilds 2322
- IOSH Managing Safely certificate

- ONC Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

Health & Safety Responsibilities:
